Hy-Vee Weighs Building Fitchburg Store | Community Spirit
The Hy-Vee grocery store chain is mulling a plan to build a new location in Fitchburg, according to city officials.
Officials in the city's planning department said that there is a development plan for Orchard Pointe that needs to be amended to allow the grocery store to be built there. The current plan doesn't include a grocery store, they said.
An application has already been submitted to the city to amend that development plan, which is the first step in a process. The application needs to be reviewed and approved by several committees, including the Planning Commission and the Community Economic Development Authority. The bodies are expected to consider the matter in October, officials said.
If the plan is approved by the committees, the city council will review and take action, which would likely happen either at the end of October or early November, officials said.
No dates have been finalized yet, according to planning department officials.
