Hy-Vee opens 3rd Madison location Tuesday | Business
A major grocery chain is opening its third location in the Madison area Tuesday.
Hy-Vee will open a new 85,000-square foot store near Highway PD and Verona Road in Fitchburg.
Officials with Hy-Vee said the $20.4 million store will employ 600 people in full- and part-time positions.
“We obviously feel we’re the best or we shouldn’t be in business. We don’t think there’s bad stores in this market, that’s why we picked it up. There are great stores in this market, we just think we bring enough that’s different, the way that we go about doing business is a little bit different than some, that will be appealing to folks,” Hy-Vee CEO Randy Edeker said.
Hy-Vee also has stores on East Washington Avenue and at Westgate Mall on Whitney Way.
There will be an event Tuesday morning at the store that will include comments from Gov. Scott Walker and a ribbon-cutting ceremony around 9 a.m.
