Art focus of annual festival with music, food, kids activities | Arts & Culture
An annual art fair will bring together more than 100 area artists in mid-August.
The fifth annual Agora Art Fair will be held Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 5500 E. Cheryl Pkwy. in Fitchburg.
Fitchburg Center Director Steven Leverentz said local and regional artists from every medium including painting, ceramics, jewelry, photography, glass, metals, woodwork, fiber and sculpture will be featured in the fair.
There will also be music on two stages, a Capital Brewery Beer & Wine Garden, local food and beverage choices, retailer specials, and new this year, a flower show with unique displays called "A Brush with Nature." A kids activity section, the Children's Art Yard, will also offer projects for the young ones at a nominal fee to raise funds for a children's centerThe Agora, organizers said.
Leverentz said live music will include the Madison Flute Club, The Oak Street Ramblers, Garryowen, The Cajun Strangers and West Side Andy and the Mel Ford Band.
Local restaurants at the art fair will include Liliana's, Oasis Cafe and EVP Coffee, Roman Candle, Yum-Yum Ice Cream and Buckhorn Kettlekorn. Organizers said food and drinks will include brats, hot dogs, pizza, wraps, salads, jambalaya, pastries, beer, wine, coffee and soda.
This event is free and open to the public and will take place rain or shine, according to a news release. Free parking will be available with free shuttles running throughout the day, organizers said.
The Agora is located two miles south of the Highway 12/18 Beltline off Fish Hatchery Road.
